Another good NES game haul. With thanks to one of the supervisors who asked me if I liked Nintendo games and showed me where they were. I would have totally overlooked them as I was on my way out of there.
The goods: Predator, Dragon Spirit The New Legend, Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers, Little Nemo Dream Master, Contra, Bart VS The Space Mutants, The Karate Kid, Track and Field, Track and Field II. Games which I have more than one: Tetris, Dr. Mario, Castlevania II and Super Mario Bros. 3:

Waaaay too many books to go through today and no place to put them. Chalk up another one to my Time Life World War II collection; The War in the Desert book #14 on the left and a duplicate copy of one I already have on the right:
and the Reservoir Dogs soundtrack:

This place is getting back to its true form. Vinyl is neatly displayed, cds are piling up and books are making a comeback. Tons of electronics, this place is becoming a vcr graveyard. I decided not to buy an Atari 5200 because it looked a little beat up and they had like 5 or six genesis controllers which I left behind too. I must have spent 2 hours in there and all I came up with were these books:
Not that I'm complaining, I like all three of these, especially the middle one which adds to my Ballantine Illustrated History of World War II collection (8) out of 154.
Central Square

Nice records here today; Billy Idol Rebel Yell, Alice Cooper School's Out and Killer:

Wouldn't be a day without coming here. Picked up Outlander for Genesis:

Damnnn they all look like you
Its been rather slow as of late due to the fact from what I hear that because of the new Goodwill store opening soon on Commonwealth Ave in the BU area, most of the "good" donations are going to that store for its big grand opening. This store is going to be good....the first day, and after that all the over privileged BU hipster kids will gut that store of anything worth getting.
anyways...

Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits LP:
What an odd book to have; Atlas of Mars The 1:5,000,000 Map Series First Government printing 1979, complete with NASA foil stickers on inside back and front cover. And the other is another good Ripley's book :
Its hard to find glass with the gold rims still in tact, they are usually used often and washed in dishwashers. This one is in excellent shape, probably because its fairly new:

Savers (West Roxbury)

Although I came out with nothing, I have to at least give my account since it was my first time here. First off, bad timing. It's school vacation week and it was a mad house in there. Lots of annoying kids running around like there was no tomorrow. For a place this big it sure had alot of useless things to buy. I suppose people come here for the cheap clothes, but by thrift store standards they are pretty expensive, with mens clothes tagged anywhere from 6.99 to $15 +. Everything just seemed broken. Book section was awful, mostly romance. Plenty of cd's but nothing really worth buying, same for vinyl. If you like Mitch Miller or Burl Ives you'll cream your pants off. I planned on getting a 3rd gen Sega Genesis controller because it is the only version I don't have but I was hardly going to wait in an airport size line to get it.
Salvation Army ( Norwood)

What a contrast to Savers. This place is immaculately clean ( I think I've said that before) and organized. So quiet in there you could really take your time and relax. There was really nothing in there that caught my eye except for this book:

I didn't think I was gonna make it in today, with a delivery to Pembroke in shit weather and almost time for my shift I did a fast run and luckily I did because I got to sort through a cart of yet-to-be-put-out records. Best vinyl haul to date.
The goods: The Impossible Dream: The Story of the 1967 Boston Red Sox ( this one sells for $25 I found out, and the record itself has seen maybe a single play). A bunch of Johny Cash records: Johnny Cash At San Quentin, Johnny Cash's Greatest Hits Vol. 1, Hello, I'm Johnny Cash and Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison. Led Zeppelin IV, Deep Purple Machine Head, Black Sabbath Vol. 4 and Paranoid:
I saw one of the customers who frequents the restaurant and she apparently got to this stack before me and asked for my advice on if her son would like the ones she picked up. Of course they were ones I wanted. She had the Beatles Help!, Led Zeppelin II and a Grateful Dead Best of. I told her if he didn't want them she knew where to find me.

First time I've been here, and like all other SA's there really isn't much going on unless you need clothes. I did manage to get this Cookie Monster record out of the filing cabinet full of lp's:
This porcelain Libra dish from West Germany:
As I was leaving I noticed this NES cleaning kit behind the counter. I'm so psyched for this, now I can clean my Nintendo a lot more efficiently:

Just got back from Rhode Island. Tom took me to Savers in Warick. I won't officially blog this with pictures since this is MASS thrift but I just wanted to say it was a good experience, a lot of unique items, even an accordion ( and if it was fully in tact I would have bought it). I did pick up a Hulk Hogan Bandanna ( orig. 1989 WWF), this awesome dinosaur pencil holder bag, and 2 records both German but the Bavarian souvenir one goes for about 20 dollars.
I'm officially going to the Norwood Savers ( Never been) and Salvation army next Monday instead of heading into town.

It always seems that when I have to make a fast stop I find something awesome. I had to go in there today to pick up a few of those Nintendo Power magazines for a friends collection and what catches my eye behind the boutique:
The Second World War by Winston S. Churchill and the editors of Life. 1959 2-volume hardcover set with included slipcase. Books weigh about 8 lbs a piece and the set fetches anywhere from 50-75 dollars. Good find!

A hurried trip today, overslept by about two hours after a night of being a complete mess. My original plans were to get stuff for my Super Bowl party then hit up the thrift store. Instead I had to go to the goodwill first then run around like an idiot to get things ready for the party...SUCKS!
anyways...
Nice heavy pint glass of the 1999 All-Star game at Fenway:
It's funny how I'm finding all these albums from my adolescence. Foo Fighters first album, only one worth owning in my opinion:
Someone got rid of a ton of MHQ Military Journal Quarterly's. I picked out the ones that were predominantly WWI and WWII related:
